Magazine. Able Publishing, the official magazine
of the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (AOBA)
is an award winning bi-monthly publication. Articles run
the gamut and they discuss EVERYTHING alpaca. Back
issues can be purchased
as well. The BEST source for alpaca info. When you join AOBA you will automatically
get a subscription. You will also get access to our national

Hoffman and Fowler. The Alpaca Book. (There
is supposed to be a new edition of this out now). This book
is a comprehensive overview of alpacas.
jEvans, C. Norman. DVM. Llama and Alpaca Veterinary
Field Manual. (2003). This is THE manual for
breeders. It covers everything health-related. We use it
several times a week. The new version has just come out with
color photos and new information. You can buy this book at
Fairhope Alpacas.
Krieger, Maggie and Richard. Secrets of the Andean
Alpaca: Assessing Fiber Characteristics and Confirmation.
(1994). This book's title says it all. A primer
in what to look for in an alpaca. You should be able to purchase

McGee Bennett, Marty. Camelidynamics.
(2002). This or any alpaca training book/video by Marty is
good. She gives you a good understanding as to what makes
an alpaca tick and how to handle them. You can purchase her

Smith, Timm, and Long (all DVMs). (1996). Llama
and Alpaca Neonatal Care. This
is THE breeding/birthing manual with everything you need
to know to be ready for your cria, plus it has some funny
cartoons alpaca lovers will appreciate.
Hobby Farms. Bi-monthly publication
by Fancy Publications. This is my new favorite magazine!
For those of us new to farming, it covers many of the topics
that are important to learn. A recent issue had articles
on composting, taxes, controlling predator loss, pasture
rotation, etc. Geared to those new to farming or the non-commercial
